About Me

I was raised on a farm outside of South Bend...Well no, not really but I was raised on a pig farm and our diet revolved around that animal.  To top things off my grandmother (who I lived with most of my life) worked at a pizza facility so if we weren't eating bacon, chops, or ham we were eating frozen pizza!  Yes, we had traditional southern fare such as beans and taters and stuff like that.  Nothing very healthy at all.

Fast forward several decades later and shockingly many of my family has died from heart disease or at least has had surgery and stents.  My cholesterol began creeping higher and higher and I knew there had to be a way to combat it - naturally.

Doctors gave weak advice (skim milk, chicken breasts, filet, fish) and I did it with mixed results.  I finally came across 3 books that altered my course: Engine 2 Diet, You Can Reverse Heart Disease, and The China Study.  I eventually added a fourth: Eat to Live (my fave).

After adopting the advice in these books my cholesterol dropped from 258 to 138 --- in less than 6 months.  Honestly, it's a struggle to continue to eat this way for me.  I stray, I fail, and I sometimes give in -- but I continue to press on!

That's why I'm here.  I want to be a source of encouragement for anyone that is trying to improve their lipids, sugar, and weight.  Together we can do it!
